Emergency Relief & Response

Older Black man looks hopefully out the window

Help those in need when they need it most.

During natural disasters, pandemics or other emergency related situations, Trident United Way is here to help. We're dedicated to providing information on ways to assist our community and to help to those in need. We work with our community municipal partners as well as 501(c)(3) community and faith-based partners to determine how best to address needs at the community level. We gather and leverage real-time information provided through strong relationships in our SafetyNet Assistance Network (over 240 partners strong) and CharityTracker tool (over 350 organizations strong).

During these emergency situations and after the threat passed, TUW will share timely information about emerging community needs and volunteer opportunities on our website and through social media.

Tri-County Storm Relief

Trident United Way and Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina have partnered together to jointly raise funds for Tri-County Storm Relief, combining resources and streamlining community-wide storm relief.

All donations to this fund go directly toward disaster relief. Any administrative fees are covered by TUW and CCF’s Community Partnership Program respectively. If relief is not necessary following the current storm, donations will remain in the fund for future recovery efforts.

Hurricane Idalia

Our thoughts are with those who have been impacted by Hurricane Idalia. We are grateful to have been spared the worst, but stand at the ready to support our community in the aftermath.

If you have been impacted, please reach out to 211 to be connected with resources available from local nonprofit partner organizations.

COVID-19 Response Fund

From mid-March to the end of June 2020, Trident United Way fundraised for the Tri-County COVID-19 Response Fund to address the emerging needs presented by the impact from COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Our goal was to UNITE our community to give generously as one of the ways we lead the support efforts in the Tri-County region to improve lives.

Thanks to generous donors, we funded 11 phases of agency awards from the Tri-County COVID-19 Response Fund, helping more than 49,000 individuals with food, housing, utility assistance and basic needs.
