Who is eligible for services through Mission United?
Mission United serves active-duty military members, veterans of any discharge status, military dependents, surviving spouses and caregivers who live in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties.
Additional eligibility requirements and documentation are required for participation in Family Coaching
- Participants must be at least 18, safely housed, live in our service area and have earned income from a job, benefits, or a training program.
- Exceptions to these requirements are made for junior enlisted service members, transitioning service members and veterans who have separated from service within the past 2 years and their spouses.
What is the time commitment for Family Coaching?
Participants typically meet with a Coach for about one hour every two weeks, for up to 12 months. The length of the program depends on your goals and level of commitment. Meetings are flexible and can take place in the community or virtually.
Will you report me to my command?
No. Services through Mission United are confidential and we do not report referrals or participation to your command or employer, unless you provide written authorization or if there is an imminent risk of serious harm to yourself or others.
If you are referred to a partner organization, we recommend you ask about their policies.
Is there a cost for services through Mission United?
No, all services provided through Mission United are free to eligible individuals and families.
What types of referrals does Mission United provide?
Our network includes resources for employment, housing, financial coaching, mental health, VA benefits assistance, childcare and more. If we can’t help directly, we do our best to refer you to a partner organization that can.
Where can I go for emergency financial assistance?
While Mission United currently doesn’t have funding for emergency financial assistance, we will help assess your situation and connect you with available resources based on your location and needs.
