WHY TINY HOUSES?
These tiny houses are miniature representations of homes we see across our region. The lowcountry-style architectural features, bright colors and decorative elements can be spotted across many neighborhoods in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties. Our neighbors, friends, family and fellow community-members call them home.
WHAT THEY MEAN:
Familiar to the community, the homes' exteriors seem untroubled and cared for: there might be flowers in the garden, a car parked in the driveway and toys hidden in the bushes outside the window. From the outside looking in, life may look stable and secure. What we don't see: the impossible choices many families who call these houses "home" must face.
These tiny homes can be found installed across the Tri-County to represent local hardworking families fighting to find their way forward. They symbolize the everyday challenges of affording housing, childcare, transportation, and other essentials while trying to achieve lasting stability. But, these houses also represent turning that hardship into hope.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
With a simple donation, you can help give a way forward. Because when more families have the support they need to thrive, our entire community grows stronger.
