Day of Caring

Trident United Way Day of Caring is the largest single day of community service in the area. Trident United Way matches nonprofit agencies and schools with volunteer teams that help advance their mission and build capacity — all while fostering community engagement. Additionally, this day serves as a catalyst for year-round volunteer engagement as teams see the impact they can make in one day when they build partnerships within the community.

Our team is excited to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Trident United Way's Day of Caring on Friday, November 20, 2020, and we are hard at work planning a safe, socially distanced and engaging day. Stay tuned for more details!

2020 Agency Information Session

On Friday, November 15, 2019, thousands of volunteers from companies across the Tri-County braved the rain and chilly weather to make the 19th annual Trident United Way Day of Caring one to remember. Some projects had to be rescheduled to a future date due to the weather. In all, more than 5,500 participants from 139 companies will complete approximately 264 projects at 152 sites. That equals 23,000 volunteer hours with an estimated* community benefit of $262,000.

2019 Day of Caring Success Story!

This year The Middleton Group participated in their first Trident United Way Day of Caring. The architecture firm did not shy away from Eagle Nest Elementary’s project request of a Gaga Ball Pit, including the donation of materials, for their students to enjoy during recess. The Middleton Group brought Southern Lumber and Millwork, Hensley & Goerling Consulting Engineers and Tobias West Structural Engineers together on this project to create a beautiful and structurally sound Gaga court for the students to enjoy for years to come. This collaboration is a testament to the impact Day of Caring has on our Tri-County when the community comes together!

"On behalf of the kids at Eagle Nest I would like to send a huge thank you to everyone involved in this project. The kids jumped right in and are making good use of the Gaga ball pit. Seeing the community build something just for them means the world to our students. Thank you everyone for bringing this to life for our kids." - Sarah Golden, Eagle Nest Elementary

"We wanted to thank all of you for the opportunity to participate in this year's United Way Day of Caring! We had a beautiful make-up day this last Friday to get out there and build a large Gaga Court for the kids at Eagle's Nest Elementary in North Charleston, SC. They were so excited and couldn't wait to start playing on it today." - Mary Catherine Peeples, The Middleton Group
