CHARLESTON, S.C. – Trident United Way’s Center for Strong Families at Charleston County Public Library’s Main Library will continue serving families during the library’s upcoming renovation and temporary relocation.

Charleston County Public Library announced its Main Library, located at 68 Calhoun St. in downtown Charleston, will close Saturday, Aug. 1, for renovation. The final day of public service will be Friday, July 31.

During the transition, Trident United Way will continue serving families without interruption. The Charleston Center for Strong Families will operate at Charleston County Public Library’s temporary downtown location at 1142 Morrison Drive once the site opens. During the temporary closure period, QR codes will be posted at the Main Library entrance so families can connect directly with Trident United Way, with in-person support available as needed.

Trident United Way operates four Centers for Strong Families across Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester counties, where families can receive one-on-one Family Coaching, build financial stability and access trusted community resources.

“The beauty of Family Coaching is that it is built to meet families where they are,” said DJ Hampton, President and CEO of Trident United Way. “A renovation may change the location for a while, but it does not change the work. Families still need support they can reach, and they deserve support that is built around their goals. Whether we are connecting virtually, at the library’s temporary site or at one of our other Centers for Strong Families, we will continue walking alongside families to help them build stronger, more stable futures.”
