CharityTrackerTM is a web application that Trident United Way provides free of charge to the Tri-County region for shared case management, to gather and report statistical data for resource development, strategic planning and measuring outcomes. TUW funded partners, community agencies and faith-based organizations track and share client service information, such as participation in GED, WorkKeys Certification, financial literacy classes, budgeting and basic needs. The tool provides accountability for those being served, as well as agencies working collectively to move individuals into financial stability. A bulletin feature allows partners to post services, such as classes and events, and alerts allow partners to post urgent needs. TUW has been providing this tool to the community since 2009. Trident United Way provides training for this web application and support for qualified agencies and volunteers.


Why CharityTracker™?

Financial stability is important to our Tri-County region. According to the Lowcountry Food Bank, 50% of its clients have an annual income of $10,000 or less.* Additionally, 60% of people in Charleston needing shelter have other unmet needs when trying to identify temporary shelter.** TUW provides the tools to help stabilize our community members and support them in moving from merely surviving to thriving. CharityTrackerTM helps us do just that!

How Does CharityTracker™ Work?

Tools like CharityTrackerTM and networks like SafetyNet Assistance Network (SNAN) change how we work together across sectors; using technology to create operational efficiencies and more effective management of scarce resources. SNAN partners can access CharityTrackerTM from any location and share documents. This helps mitigate transportation issues for clients.

CharityTracker™ Usage in The Tri-County Region:

  • Over 350 agencies, churches and faith-based organizations utilize CharityTrackerTM

  • More than 1,500 staff and volunteers, 56,000 families and 138,000 people are in CharityTrackerTM

  • Approximately 700,000 services and $10,500,000  of assistance have been provided

CharityTracker data provided is cumulative to-date since rollout in 2009.

CharityTracker™ Story of Success

A woman, working to support herself with a  modest seamstress services business, grappled with a setback when her sewing machine broke. This put her out of work. Rather than having to find another job and/or access benefits to make ends meet until she could afford to buy a new sewing machine, her church posted her need on CharityTrackerTM. Five organizations responded, and she had her choice of several different sewing machines that could be delivered to her church by the end of the day. With this rapid response and assistance, she was back to work the next morning.
