Join us for Trident United Way's 6th Annual Read Across America Day on Thursday, March 2nd!

Volunteer to be a classroom reader! Volunteers will visit classrooms to share their love of reading with a book (or two) to students in Child Development through 3rd grade. This year, 10 schools throughout the Tri-County community are participating, providing the opportunity to read to over 150 classrooms.

Your reading will help inspire a future generation of readers. Volunteers can be as creative as they like using fun props, costumes, backdrops and more.Request to more information or to sign up through the link below.


Trident United Way's 5th Annual Read Across America Day

On Wednesday Trident United Way celebrated its 5th Annual Read Across America Day! 42 volunteers read to 900 students in 50 classrooms at 8 elementary schools throughout the Tri-County community, both in-person and virtually! Thank you to all of our incredible volunteers for sharing your love of reading with local students!

Trident United Way's 4th Annual Read Across America Day

On Tuesday, March 2nd, 40 volunteers read virtually to students in 42 classrooms at Harleyville Elementary, Matilda Dunston Elementary, Newington Elementary, Pinehurst Elementary and Sanders Clyde Elementary. Volunteers found fun and unique ways to engage with the students while sharing their love of reading! Reading aloud to students can help them develop their literacy skills. With 52% of third graders in Tri-County region reading at grade level, there is a lot of opportunity to support Trident United Way’s work in education and share your love of reading with local students!

On Friday, March 6, 102 volunteers visited 131 classrooms at 11 Title 1 local elementary schools to read to students in CD to 3rd grade as part of Read Across America Day. Thank you to all of the volunteers and participating schools!
