Our Conversations on Race & Health Equity Series highlights both progress and challenges when it comes to health and communities of color. The February virtual panel included:

The conclusions from the expert panel:

  • Communities of color do not have access to vaccines as much as other groups

  • Black and Hispanic adults are more hesitant to receive the vaccine compared with Whites

  • More education needs to be done to let people know COVID-19 vaccines are fully tested and are safe for all

  • More grassroots dialogue needs to happen to dispel vaccine myths and encourage all to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible

  • Dialogue needs to happen everywhere: beauty/barbershops, around the dinner table, community forums

  • COVID-19 is having a disproporniate impact on communities of color - Higher death rates & lower vaccine rates.
