Community Poverty Simulation RESCHEDULED

Due to traffic concerns and road closures for the Presidential visit in North Charleston on Friday afternoon/evening the simulation has been rescheduled. We apologize for any inconvenience. Please register for the simulation on Friday, April 3rd or Friday, May 1st.

Will you start out the month with only a $10 bill to meet your family’s basic needs? … Or, will you be one of the unlucky ones? You’ll find out when you join us for a unique opportunity to experience the virtual realities of poverty. Trident United Way will host a Community Poverty Simulation on Friday, February 28th from 1:00pm-3:00pm (please plan to stay the entire time).

This learning tool has been created as a way to help people understand the realities of poverty. Although play money is used, the Poverty Simulation is not a game. It is a simulation that enables participants to look at poverty from a variety of angles and then to recognize and discuss the potential for change within their local communities. The simulation was designed to sensitize those who frequently deal with low-income families, as well as to create a broader awareness of the realities of poverty among policymakers, community leaders and others. It is made available by Trident United Way.

You must be registered for the event to participate- Register Today.

Please contact Cathy Easley at 843-740-7733 or ceasley@tuw.org  if you would like additional information, or have previously participated and would like to volunteer.
