Adult Mental Health First Aid
Participants will go through a 5-step action plan encompassing the skills, resources, and knowledge to help an individual in crisis connect with appropriate professional, peer, social and self-help care. After completion of the entire course, each participant will be certified as a Mental Health First Aider.
After this training, the Learner will be able to:
- Identify the prevalence of mental illnesses in the U.S. and their emotional and economic cost.
- Identify potential warning signs and risk factors of depression, anxiety disorders, trauma, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, and substance use disorders.
- Demonstrate a 5-step action plan to help an individual in crisis connect to professional care.
- Identify resources available to help someone with a mental health problem.
Prerequisite: None.
Reminder: Lunch will be provided. Registration closes 2 days before the training date.
