TeenLine
responds to thousands of calls each year from
teenagers and pre-teens with emotional and
interpersonal problems through our telephone
listening service. We are staffed by volunteer
high school students who have completed an
extensive 35-hour training program and are
ready to address issues including suicide
prevention, drug use, child abuse, depression,
school pressure, peer pressure, family issues,
relationships, etc. Our volunteers reach teens
through both the telephone helpline and community
outreach presentations at schools and youth
groups throughout the Tri-County area.
TeenLine
services are FREE and CONFIDENTIAL.
Callers never have to share their names and
volunteers use first names only. Volunteers
never pass judgment or opinions; they are
available to help the callers help themselves.
If a volunteer is not able to help, s/he is
equipped with the most accurate listing of
community resources in the Lowcountry and
can provide the caller with almost any information
they may need.
TeenLine
operates Monday through Friday from 4 - 8
pm. If help is needed outside these hours,
our parent organization, 211
Hotline, is there to answer
calls and provide support 24 hours a day.
211 Hotline
volunteers have undergone the same extensive
training, and are able to provide the same
caring ear, as TeenLine volunteers.
