Public Policy/Advocacy

Key Public Policy Advocacy Positions

We will work with key stakeholders at the local, regional, and state levels to advocate for:

  • Expanding the existing pilot program to create access to four-year-old kindergarten for all children and families in our state
  • Moving the state's education standard from "minimally adequate" to "high quality."
  • Increasing public funding and support for collaborative school/community partnerships, including community learning centers.
  • Providing the resources necessary to increase prevention efforts, in addition to ongoing intervention efforts, for both child abuse and high-risk behaviors.
  • Additional funding for after-school and extended day learning opportunities for middle and high school students.

Please check back frequently for updates as the 2010 legislative session gets underway. To be placed on our Public Policy Alerts email list, contact Michael Lisle at mlisle@tuw.org.
