Tornado in Goose Creek

United Way Spins Into Action

Trident United Way (TUW) and its partners are planning for the long-term consequences of families without homes, power, transportation, etc. in the wake of last weekend’s tornadoes.

The Red Cross reports that 13 homes in the Strawberry mobile home community were destroyed, five more were rendered uninhabitable and another seven lost power.

TUW has set aside up to $25,000 to provide services to the people who need them through partner agencies like Lowcountry Food Bank, Strawberry Assistance Center, the Salvation Army the American Red Cross, and local churches.

TUW's primary role is to coordinate the disparate activities of the various agencies, groups and individuals involved.

Want to help? Send a check to Trident United Way and write "Tornado Fund" in the memo line.

If you know someone who was affected by the tornado, call the Red Cross at 764-2323, x318
