Tri-County Hurricane Matthew Recovery 2016
Each day, Trident United Way and its partners work to help our neighbors overcome barriers that impede living a quality life. Historically, however, when a natural disaster like Hurricane Matthew strikes our region’s shores, Trident United Way takes an additional step to help those in need. Certainly, our region fared better than some during the storm, but there is no doubt that many of our neighbors are dealing with damages and difficulties.
Please read below for ways to give or get help.
1. GIVE: MAKE A ONE-TIME ABOVE-AND-BEYOND GIFT
If, like many did last fall in response to the floods, you choose to give above and beyond investment to those affected by Hurricane Matthew, we want to assure you that your special contribution will have an important and timely impact.
To aid in the recovery, Trident United Way working in partnership with The Post and Courier has established the Tri-County Hurricane Matthew Recovery Fund.
As part of the effort, Trident United Way has set aside $100,000 in reserve funds to match dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000 all gifts made to the Tri-County Hurricane Matthew Recovery Fund.
To make a one-time, above-and-beyond contribution, please click below on the words GIVE NOW to make a contribution to the Tri-County Hurricane Matthew Recovery Fund.
Give now through Monday, November 7
All donations received by the Tri-County Hurricane Matthew Recovery Fund will go directly to organizations in the Tri-County area providing relief to individuals and families affected by Hurricane Matthew. Trident United Way will underwrite all administrative costs associated with dispersing these funds, and 100% of funds received will go directly to supporting storm recovery efforts. In the unlikely case all funds are not expended, remaining funds will be set aside in a reserve fund for exclusive use during future disaster response efforts.
You can also make a gift via check. Please mail your check to the following address:
Attention: Hurricane Matthew, Trident United Way, PO BOX 63305, North Charleston, SC 29419. Please be sure to make a note on the check memo line for Tri-County Hurricane Matthew Recovery Fund.

This service offers referrals to critical community resources, supportive listening, and crisis intervention.
3. VOLUNTEER: SIGN UP NOW
If you are interested in volunteering, please first consider doing so within your own networks. If you are a member of a church or civic group, inquire whether plans are being made to respond to relief efforts.
If you are not affiliated with a group, register now at VolunteerSC.org. New disaster response volunteer projects will be added as the needs arise in our community.
Trident United Way is working in real time with many of its funded partners and additional 501(c)(3) community and faith-based partners participating in the Safety Net Assistance Network to determine how best to address needs at the community level. For example, there are over 250 community agencies trained by your Trident United Way to use the CharityTrackerTM communication system, provided free of charge. We will share more timely information on our website and Facebook page regarding community needs as become clearer.
