An
All-American Success
“I
come from a proud family,” says Bobbi-Jo Burriss
of Goose Creek. I had to be at wit’s end to ask
for help.” But that’s what she did, and thanks
to your contribution she’s back on her feet today.
Bobbi-Jo
works at All-American Awards, a small business
in Mt. Pleasant. When complications
arose during her 2006 pregnancy, Bobbi-Jo was
put on bed rest for three months, during which
time she wasn’t earning any money.
“I
was at a breaking point, but the lady at the service
center was amazing” she said. Because All-American
had done some work for Trident United Way, Bobbi-Jo
knew about its service centers in Summerville
and Moncks Corner.
Trident
United Way operates those offices to better serve
the entire tri-county area. Besides providing
free office space for other non-profit agencies,
the centers help people in need find community
resources.
United
Way staff at the Summerville service center helped
Bobbi-Jo figure out how to pay nearly all her
bills. Then they connected her to resources that
covered her gas bill. That was all she needed.
For
the two years since, Bobbi-Jo has been working,
paying her bills and raising a healthy baby boy.
And if you ever get a plaque from Trident United
Way, chances are Bobbi-Jo made it.
