The spirit of volunteerism is strong in the Lowcountry. The Day of Caring celebrates the spirit by providing the opportunity for volunteers from around the Tri-county to join local helping and community enrichment agencies and schools to work on one-time service projects. Day of Caring is chaired by a volunteer community leader who serves as the champion for the event.
Volunteer teams from local businesses and service organizations partner with agencies and schools to give their time and services in an effort to improve our community. Generally, projects fall between 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM and may take all day or any part of the day.

The first Day of Caring held in the Lowcountry occurred in 2000, boasting 17 projects and 185 volunteers. In 2011, more than 8,000 individuals were involved in service and we made amazing things happen at over 400 project sites.
Day of Caring provides a unique opportunity for agencies to market their services to the community, establish relationships with local businesses, and strengthen volunteer awareness of their mission. Schools have the opportunity to engage the community in taking a more active role in the education and development of our youth. Through your efforts, both can learn how to better manage the valuable resource of volunteers.
Trident United Way's Day of Caring event is one of the largest in the nation (second only to Seattle), with the value of labor and supplies topping $1 million.
We look forward to working with you!
