IF
YOU ARE IN CRISIS…
1-800-273-TALK (8255)
We
are so glad you are reading this right now. If
you are thinking about suicide, you don’t need
to be alone. Please pick up the phone right now
and dial 1-800-273-TALK (8255). You will get a
supportive, listening ear who is ready to talk
about your feelings openly and honestly. Please
call.
We
understand that life can be difficult and even
feel unbearable at times. We are willing to hear
and talk about the immense pain you might be feeling
right now. We know that you may feel like you
have no hope and no options. What we want you
to know is that PEOPLE DO GET THROUGH THIS. They
do get relief from the pain, if they can just
hold on. Please call 1-800-273-8255
and let someone help you find other options besides
suicide. Let someone help you hold on.
People
commit suicide when the pain is too much to bear.
It’s not right or wrong, good or bad. It’s just
that a human being can only stand so much before
they can‘t take it anymore. Many people find that
talking helps. Please call to talk about your
thoughts, feelings and situation.
Take yourself seriously. If your
need is urgent, admit it. You deserve to get help,
and to get it sooner rather than later. A crisis
is temporary and you need to know it will eventually
pass- even though it doesn’t feel that way. You
do not have to work through this by yourself.
Give yourself today – or at least another
moment. You deserve today. The option of killing
yourself isn't going to go away. It is a choice
you can make tomorrow or next week or next month,
if you decide that's still what you want. When
you are feeling so bad that you want to kill yourself,
the thought of just surviving the days ahead can
seem exhausting, overwhelming, and unbearable.
So try to focus on just getting through
today, not the rest of your life.
Your coping ability is greatly weakened right
now. You may not be able to imagine getting through
this -- but your thoughts can play tricks on you
when you're in crisis. So don't try to handle
thoughts of the future right now; just make a
decision to get through today. Today may be painful,
but you can decide to survive it and give some
other options a chance, at least for a day. Please
pick up the phone and allow someone to help you
through.
If
for any reason you can’t call, we ask that you
dig deep… what will help you hold on? What do
you like to do? Who do you like to be with? Who
can you talk to? Whether a friend or family member,
a crisis hotline or a counselor, whether you go
for a walk or paint a picture, find your personal
option that will work for you, one that will lighten
your load just a little bit so that you can survive.
We
want you to live. We want you to hold on. Please
call someone right now. There is help available,
and you are never alone.
